1. Định nghĩa
Câu điều kiện loại 1 là câu dùng để dự đoán một hành động, sự việc có thể xảy ra trong tương lai khi có một điều kiện nhất định xảy ra trước.

2. Công thức
Câu điều kiện loại 1 hoặc câu điều kiện nói chung thường sẽ có 2 mệnh đề. Một mệnh đề mô tả điều kiện “nếu“, mệnh đề còn lại là mệnh đề chính “thì“.

Lưu ý:
– Trong một số trường hợp, “will” có thể được thay thế bằng “must/should/have to/ought to/can/may“.
– Câu điều kiện loại 1 có thể dùng “Unless + Thì hiện tại đơn” thay thế cho “If not + Thì hiện tại đơn“. (Unless you drive me crazy, I’ll never hit you. => Trừ khi bạn làm tôi phát điên, tôi sẽ không bao giờ đánh bạn.)
– Mệnh đề điều kiện (mệnh đề if) có thể đứng ở vế đầu hoặc vế sau. Mệnh đề if thường được chia ở thì hiện tại đơn và mệnh đề chính chia ở thì tương lai đơn.
3. Cách dùng
Dùng để dự đoán hành động, sự việc có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai.
Ví dụ: If I get up early, I’ll go to work on time. (Nếu tôi dậy sớm, tôi sẽ đi làm đúng giờ.)
Dùng để đề nghị hoặc gợi ý.
Ví dụ: If you buy me an ice cream, I’ll take you to school. (Nếu bạn mua cho tôi một cây kem, tôi sẽ đưa bạn đến trường.)
Dùng để cảnh báo hoặc đe dọa.
Ví dụ: If you don’t do your homework, you will be penalized by the teacher. (Nếu bạn không làm bài tập, bạn sẽ bị giáo viên phạt.)
1. Những lưu ý khi sử dụng câu điều kiện loại 1
Đôi khi câu điều kiện loại 1 có thể sự dụng thì hiện tại đơn ở cả 2 mệnh đề.
Ví dụ: If I want to play chess, please play with me. (Nếu tôi muốn chơi cờ, hãy chơi với tôi.)
Có thể sử dụng thì hiện tại tiếp diễn hoặc thì hiện tại hoàn thành trong mệnh đề if.
Ví dụ: If I keep working, I will finish reporting in an hour. (Nếu tôi tiếp tục làm việc, tôi sẽ hoàn thành báo cáo sau một giờ.)
Một số ít trường hợp câu điều kiện loại 1 có thể sử dụng thì tương lai tiếp diễn hoặc thì tương lai hoàn thành ở mệnh đề chính.
Ví dụ: If I go to the cinema early, I will be watching the movie. (Nếu tôi đến rạp chiếu phim sớm, tôi sẽ được xem phim. (Nếu tôi đến rạp chiếu phim sớm, tôi sẽ đang xem phim.)
2. Đảo ngữ câu điều kiện loại 1
Should + S + V-inf
Ví dụ: Should I buy this toy, my kids will destroy it in just one day. (Tôi có nên mua món đồ chơi này không, con tôi sẽ phá hủy nó chỉ trong một ngày.)
